Many women try to achieve their desired lower body contour through exercise and diet but still find that they are unhappy with the appearance of flat, unshapely buttocks. Using advanced surgical techniques Dr. Arroyo performs a butt lift at Houston's Arroyo Plastic Surgery to help patients achieve their desired shape.

What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?

The buttocks’ shape and proportionality are primarily influenced by genetics (i.e., your skeletal structure and how your body stores fat). Those who are unsatisfied with their shape can benefit from a Brazilian butt lift. A Brazilian butt lift also referred to as a BBL, is a multi-beneficial procedure that removes excess fat from your belly, hips, and thighs through the process of liposuction and then uses this fat to enhance the curves of your butt. This aesthetically transformative procedure gives an attractive, well-proportioned lower body contour with a fuller and rounder buttock.

What Are the Benefits?

Some of the key benefits of a Brazilian butt lift include:

  • Enhanced curves and contour of the lower body
  • Reduced fat pockets and improved contour of the belly, hips, and thighs
  • Fuller and well-rounded buttocks
  • Clothing fits more attractively
  • Transforms a flat butt to more youthful and aesthetically pleasing
  • Improved overall proportionality by enhancing the balance between the lower and upper body

Dr. Arroyo's Approach

A Brazilian Butt Lift is an outpatient procedure performed using general anesthesia sedation at Dr. Arroyo’s Houston office operating room or at a nearby surgery center. He will make tiny incisions and use the process of liposuction to extract fat from the abdomen, hips, lower back, thighs, or other areas. This fat is then purified and prepared for transfer, then injected into specific points in the buttocks to achieve the desired shape and volume. Because up to 25% of the fat injected will be reabsorbed by the body, achieving the right size is a delicate balancing act that requires an artistic eye. Dr. Arroyo makes sure to minimize incisions and conceal them under swimsuits and clothing. Once the procedure is complete, he will close the incisions and apply a special bandage to help with healing. Who is a Candidate for Brazilian Butt Lift?

You may be a good candidate for a Brazilian butt Lift (BBL) surgery if:

  • You are in good physical and emotional health
  • You have good skin tone, particularly in the hip and buttocks areas
  • You have adequate fat stores in other parts of your body for harvesting and injection
  • You are willing and able to avoid sitting on your buttocks for at least a few weeks
  • You have realistic expectations about the outcome of your butt lift treatment

During your first butt augmentation consultation at Dr. Arroyo’s Houston office, he will listen to your concerns, examine your body, and let you know if you are a candidate.

For women who want to reshape their butt but do not have enough fat stores, Dr. Arroyo may recommend that you have a conventional butt lift procedure using implants. Whatever your aesthetic goals are, whether a conventional or Brazilian butt lift, Houston's Dr. Arroyo can help you achieve them.

Recovery

After Your Brazilian Butt Lift

After completing your BBL at Houston's Arroyo Plastic Surgery, special care is required during recovery. Dr. Arroyo will prescribe appropriate medication to alleviate pain and other discomforts after surgery. Keep in mind that you will not be able to sit on your buttocks for at least two weeks. During this time, you will be required to sleep on your belly or side. You will also be asked to stand while undertaking almost all activities. At some point in the recovery process, Dr. Arroyo will allow you to sit in a modified position. The majority of patients can resume light daily activities within one week and normal activities within three weeks. In case you have any questions or need support during the recovery process, Dr. Arroyo’s office will always be available on call.

Brazilian Butt Lift FAQ

How much a BBL cost?

Will a BBL remove loose skin?

Can I combine it with other procedures?

BBL vs butt implants

How much a BBL cost?

The cost of a BBL at Houston's Arroyo Plastic Surgery will vary from one patient to another. On average, patients can expect to pay anywhere between $5,000 and $10,000. Because the Brazilian butt lift procedure is considered elective cosmetic surgery, health insurers do not cover it. During your initial consultation with Dr. Arroyo, the surgeon’s team will provide a cost estimate so you can arrange for financing.

Will a BBL remove loose skin?

Despite its name, this treatment is not a typical butt lift. A BBL procedure is designed to enhance your buttocks’ shape and size by injecting fat borrowed from other parts of the body. If you have significant loose skin in your butt, you may need to undergo a conventional buttock lift (gluteoplasty) to achieve the desired aesthetic outcome. Dr. Arroyo will examine your butt, discuss your concerns, and let you know what treatment approach is best for you.

Can I combine it with other procedures?

Yes. Many women choose to combine their BBL with other procedures such as a tummy tuck, a facelift, a breast lift, and liposuction. Make sure to discuss all your needs with Dr. Arroyo so he can create a comprehensive treatment plan to meet your goals.

BBL vs butt implants

The Brazilian butt lift is popular because it improves the buttocks’ shape and size without implants. Since fat is extracted from other parts of the body, such as the belly, hips, and thighs, this cosmetic treatment leads to improved contouring in these areas. Women who are very lean and do not have enough fat stores may need to have buttock implants to achieve their desired size increase. If you are considering buttock implants, be aware of the complications such as capsular contracture and increased risk of infection.
