Restylane is a type of facial injection that is designed to treat a number of facial cosmetic problems, including wrinkles and folds. The Restylane family of products includes several variations to help treat various cosmetic concerns. Primary targets of Restylane include lines and wrinkles as well subtle lip and cheek enhancements, and even reversing the signs of volume loss in the backs of the hands.

Restylane Options

The Restylane product line is created with hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that gives skin volume and moisture. There are a few variations that include

Restylane

This can be used to add volume and fullness to areas of the face that may have grown more sunken or hollow due to aging. For patients over 21, it can also be used to add volume to the lips for a more improved pout and fullness.

Restylane Lyft

This product is created with a thicker gel and is used to alleviate severe folds and wrinkles. By adding volume to the skin, it can assist with improving sunken or hollow-looking areas of the face. This product can also be used on the backs of the hands to help hide the standard sides of aging.

Restylane Defyne

Restylane Defyne is a firm facial filler that’s perfect for adding natural-looking volume and structure to the lips. Defyne is also very effective for smoothing lip lines as well as reducing wrinkles and folds around the mouth and cheeks. Formulated using advanced XpresHAn Technology, this filler customizes the cross-linking of hyaluronic acid particles, which allows it to adapt to different skin textures and the natural movement of the face.

Restylane Refyne

Like Restylane Defyne, Restylane Refyne is manufactured using innovative XpresHAn Technology, allowing its hyaluronic acid particles to cross-link with the skin cells for natural-looking results. This long-lasting dermal filler is an excellent choice for reducing fine lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. 

Restylane Kysse

Restylane Kysse is the very first lip filler designed with XpresHAn Technology. With results proven to last for up to one year, this filler adds natural-looking volume to the lips while removing lines and enhancing the texture and color. Restylane Kysse does an exceptional job of matching your lip movements and facial expressions while maintaining a natural appearance.

Restylane-L

Restylane-L is a diverse, crystal-clear dermal filler containing lidocaine, which is an anesthetic used to minimize discomfort during treatment. Restylane-L is used primarily for reducing the appearance of under-eye hollows and tear troughs. The filler is also effective for adding natural-looking volume and reducing signs of aging around the nose and mouth.

Am I a Candidate for Restylane?

Ideal candidates for Restylane should be over 21, seeking an increase in facial volume, or looking to smooth lines and wrinkles. Patients should be free from skin infections, in good general health, and not pregnant or breastfeeding. Will My Restylane Treatment Be Painful?

You may experience some discomfort during your Restylane treatment, but there shouldn’t be significant pain. Before making the injections, your injector professional will apply a topical anesthetic to the treatment area to numb the skin. Plus, Restylane-L contains lidocaine, which will further reduce any pain associated with the procedure.

Your Treatment at Arroyo Plastic Surgery

When you arrive at Arroyo Plastic Surgery, you will meet with Dr. Arroyo to discuss your aesthetic goals and talk through all of the questions about the procedure you may have. From there, he will develop a tailor-made treatment plan to help address your goals. Before the injection process begins, a numbing agent will be applied to keep you comfortable. The treatment usually takes between 15-30 minutes.

Recovery After Restylane

After the treatment, you may experience some bruising and swelling. This shouldn’t last more than a few days. Following the injection treatment, you can resume normal activities but should avoid more strenuous work for the first 24 hours. A single session of Restylane can last for 6-18 months, depending on the area of treatment. Restylane can be reinjected as needed.
