What is Xeomin?

As we age, lines and wrinkles can form throughout our faces. We’re able to create facial expressions by contracting our muscles under our skin.

As we age and continue to repeat these expressions, lines can permanently form. Xeomin is a neurotoxin treatment that temporarily blocks the release of chemicals that create muscle contractions. This allows lines to soften.

While Xeomin is similar to Botox, its lack of additives also offers more benefits. After the repeated use of Botox, patients can build up desensitization to the product. Because Xeomin doesn’t have any of the additives that Botox has, you won’t ever have to worry about becoming desensitized to the product. This also makes Xeomin a good choice for patients who have been using Botox and become desensitized.

What Makes Xeomin Different?

While there are several different types of wrinkle-fighting injections on the market today, Xeomin is different. Like other injectable treatments, Xeomin is made from botulinum toxin type A. What makes this treatment unique is that it a purified form of the neurotoxin. This means that it is created without any other additives or accessory proteins.

Your Xeomin Treatment

Treatment with Xeomin is quick, and on average, takes between 10-15 minutes. You may be numbed beforehand and will only feel a slight poke. After your treatment, you will be asked not to touch your face for a few hours and well as not lie down. This helps keep the product in the exact place it was intended. Other than that, you will be able to resume all regular activities, provided they aren’t too strenuous.

Side Effects:

While side effects are rare, it is important to be aware of them. They may include injection site pain, neck pain, eyelid drooping, possible onset of a cold, dry eyes or mouth, and visual impairment.
