Dr. Arroyo offers the Juvederm® family of dermal fillers to help patients restore volume to their faces and help reduce common signs of aging. He spends time with each patient to understand their cosmetic treatment goals and isn’t satisfied unless he achieves them.

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is a type of dermal filler created from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that gives skin volume, moisture, and elasticity.

In addition, hyaluronic acid injections boost the production of collagen in the skin. This FDA-approved line of dermal fillers includes several different product variations, each designed to treat specific cosmetic concerns.

Juvederm Products

There are several different Juvederm products available, each design to treat specific areas. During your consultation with Dr. Arroyo in Houston, Juvederm will be fully explained and he will determine which product is right for you.

Juvederm Voluma XC is a great dermal filler for adding youthful contours to the cheeks. As we age, our faces begin to lose volume, and cheeks may start to sag or flatten out. This product can help restore that lost volume, as well as add definition to the chin for patients over 21. This wonder product can also treat lines and wrinkles.

Juvederm Ultra XC adds more fullness to the lips, giving patients a more plump pout. This product is ideal for patients whose lips may have thinned over time or for those over 21 who want fuller lips. This product is also approved to treat smile lines around the nose and mouth.

Juvederm Volbella XC will soften vertical lip lines, also known as perioral lines, to help turn the clock back on aging. In addition to treating these lines, it can also be used to restore volume to the lips or increase a patient’s lip size if they are over the age of 21. Results from this product typically last up to a year.

Juvéderm Vollure XC is very effective for reducing the deep marionette lines that run from the corners of the mouth to the chin. This filler can also treat nasolabial folds, which are the lines and wrinkles that extend from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth. Vollure has been shown to offer results lasting up to 18 months.

Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC is a thicker version of Juvéderm Ultra XC, offering patients longer-lasting results and a more natural look. This product will add volume and plumpness to the lips, smoothing and correcting moderate to severe lip lines in the process. The effects of this filler have been shown to last for up to a year

Your Treatment With Dr. Arroyo

During your consultation with Dr. Arroyo, you will discuss your cosmetic goals, and he will recommend how best to achieve them. After this, he will develop a comprehensive treatment plan specifically tailored to your needs. When it is time to inject the dermal fillers, he will start by numbing the area. Juvederm injections also contain a small amount of lidocaine, which helps reduce pain. Between injections, the areas being treated may be massaged to help reduce swelling and ensure an even distribution of the product. When receiving Juvederm injections at Arroyo Plastic Surgery, the process usually takes between 15 and 60 minutes, depending on the goals of the treatment.

After Your Procedure

Immediately after receiving Juvederm injections with Dr. Arroyo, you will be able to return to work and your regular daily activities. You should avoid sun exposure and strenuous activities for 24 after your treatment. Results will be visible immediately, though you may experience some bruising and swelling around the injection site. A single Juvederm treatment will last from 6-18 months as the body slowly absorbs the material. After this, you will need another injection to maintain the result of this treatment.

Potential Side Effects

While side effects are rare, it is important to be aware of them before your treatment. You can expect some swelling and bruising following your treatment. Other side effects may also include some redness, tenderness, itching, bumps near the injection site, and light pain. These side effects typically subside within a few weeks. How are Juvéderm products different from other dermal fillers?

The main thing that differentiates Juvéderm products from other dermal fillers is their long-lasting results. Thanks to the use of cross-linked hyaluronic acid particles, many of these fillers can last up to 12 or 18 months.

Will the treatment hurt?

The topical anesthetic applied to your skin and the lidocaine contained in the fillers should prevent any significant pain during treatment. You may feel a slight pinching sensation, but that should be it.

Can Juvéderm treat all skin tones?

Yes, Juvéderm fillers have been proven to be safe and effective for both lighter and darker skin tones.
