What is Dysport?

Dysport is a neuromuscular blocking injectable drug that essentially works by stopping the transmission of chemicals that instructs your muscles to move. When facial movement is limited, the skin can reinvigorate itself.

This puts a temporary pause on the formation of wrinkles. When Dysport is injected into specific areas of the face, it results in a smoother and more youthful facial appearance.

What Does Dysport Treat?

Dysport is a neuromuscular blocking injectable treatment that can be used to treat facial frown lines, crows feet, lines between the eyebrows, and forehead lines. The untreated facial muscles will be able to move normally, resulting in a rejuvenated natural-looking appearance. Dysport is a safe injectable treatment that is FDA-approved to treat wrinkles.

Who Is a Candidate?

During your consultation, Dr. Arroyo will determine if you are a candidate for Dysport. Patients who are candidates may have moderate to severe creases or wrinkles in their brow area. Patients should be realistic about what they wish to accomplish during treatment and understand what Dysport can achieve. Patients should also be in good overall health and able to tolerate botulinum toxin.

Results from a single session typically last between 3-5 months and can be safely repeated as needed.

Will my facial movements be frozen?

No. At Arroyo Plastic Surgery, it is always our goal to leave you with natural-looking results, and that includes after an injectable treatment. When applied correctly, Dysport results in a rejuvenated, more youthful appearance.

Can Dysport be combined with other treatments?

Yes. Dysport injections can be combined with other non-surgical facial treatments or facial cosmetic surgeries. During your consultation, it is essential to discuss all of your aesthetic goals with Dr. Arroyo so he can decide if there is a combination of procedures that is right for you.

When will I see my results?

Patients may begin to see results a few days after their treatment. Results are typically noticeable 1-7 days after treatment.

Is there a recovery period after Dysport?

Dysport is administered in the office at Arroyo Plastic Surgery and takes around 15 minutes. Following your treatment, you will have an ice pack applied and may wish to ice the injection site throughout the day; after treatment, patients can resume their normal activities immediately.
