What is Radiesse?

Radiesse is a soft tissue filler that is used to alleviate moderate to severe creases on the face.

It is also widely used to plump up the cheeks and improve facial contouring as well as restore volume to the backs of the hands. It is the first FDA-approved dermal filler that can be used on both the face and the hands.

How Does Radiesse Work?

Collagen is one of the central proteins that make up our skin. This protein is what helps our skin look taught and fresh. When we age, the production of collagen starts to slow down. This can lead to sagging skin and a loss of elasticity. Radiesse stimulates collagen production, leading to a more rejuvenated appearance. Radiesse is created from calcium hydroxylapatite, a type of mineral that’s present in human bones and teeth. The calcium particles are mixed with a gel-like solution and injected under the skin to improve facial aesthetics.

Who Is a Candidate for Radiesse?

Idea candidates for Radiesse are mature adults with folds or wrinkles around their nose or mouth. It is also ideal for candidates wishing to restore lost volume back to their hands or cheeks. Most patients receiving Radiesse are between the ages of 35 and 60. During your consultation, Dr. Arroyo will determine if you are a good candidate for Radiesse.

Who is Not a Candidate for Radiesse?

You should not use Radiesse if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have severe allergies or allergies to any of the product ingredients, or have a bleeding disorder. Some side effects may include itching, redness, swelling, pain, and bruising. After your treatment, Dr. Arroyo and his staff will be available to address any of your questions or concerns.
