Unfortunately, most of us aren’t lucky enough to have naturally flawless, vibrant skin. As we get older, it becomes even more challenging to keep our skin free of blemishes and signs of aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, and hyperpigmentation. Fortunately, there are effective, non-invasive treatments that make it much easier to achieve the beautiful, youthful skin we desire. If you’re interested in revitalizing your skin, you may want to consider HALO laser treatment.

What Is the HALO Laser?

The HALO laser, developed by Sciton, is the first hybrid fractional laser that uses both ablative and non-ablative technology to rejuvenate multiple layers of the skin. The HALO laser treatment is used to improve the health and complexion of the skin while treating various imperfections, including lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, enlarged pores, sun damage, age spots, and many others.

How Does the HALO Laser Work?

HALO laser treatment delivers two separate laser wavelengths to the skin in a single pulse, which essentially allows it to combine two treatments into one.

Ablative Wavelength

The HALO laser’s ablative wavelength works by removing the surface layers of the skin, which triggers the body’s natural healing process. As a result, your body develops new, healthy skin cells and increases its collagen production, which has lasting effects on the health and complexion of your skin.

Non-Ablative Wavelength

The non-ablative wavelength delivered by the HALO laser works to stimulate the production of both collagen and elastin. These important proteins help to reduce signs of aging and improve the overall structure of the skin.

Where Can HALO Laser Treatment Be Done?

The HALO laser can be used to rejuvenate the skin virtually anywhere on the body. Some of the most popular treatment areas include:

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Chest
  • Arms
  • Hands
  • Legs

Benefits of HALO Laser Treatment

HALO laser treatment can offer a variety of benefits, including:

  • Reduces various cosmetic skin issues, including enlarged pores, sun damage, scarring, and rough texture
  • Reduces signs of aging skin
  • Creates smoother, more youthful-looking skin
  • Increased self-confidence
  • Evens out skin tone
  • Increases collagen and elastin production
  • Long-lasting results
  • Non-invasive treatment

What Should I Expect During the Procedure?

If you’re considering HALO laser treatment, the process starts with a quick consultation with Dr. Arroyo. He will answer all of your questions about the procedure and help you decide if it’s the best option for your needs. Dr. Arroyo will also get to know you and your specific aesthetic goals.

HALO laser treatment is performed as an outpatient procedure and typically takes under an hour to complete. To begin, a topical numbing cream will be applied to your skin in the treatment area. Once the anesthetic has had time to work, Dr. Arroyo will guide the HALO laser handpiece over your skin. You will likely feel a warming sensation, but the device’s built-in cooling function will minimize your discomfort. You should be able to return home immediately after the procedure is finished.

How Long Is the Recovery Time?

After HALO laser treatment, your skin may feel hot to the touch for a couple of hours. Within a few days, you may also start to notice your skin crusting and/or peeling. It’s best to minimize sun exposure for a month or two after your treatment.

Most patients can return to work and their normal routines approximately 24 to 48 hours after undergoing HALO laser treatment. However, you may want to wait a few extra days before partaking in strenuous exercise.

Am I a Candidate for HALO Laser Treatment?

Adults who would like to revitalize their skin and reduce signs of aging could be good candidates for HALO laser treatment. The HALO laser can be used on all skin types and tones. Ideal candidates for the treatment should:

  • Be in generally good health
  • Have the desire to reduce signs of aging skin
  • Have the desire to treat skin imperfections like enlarged pores, hyperpigmentation, sun spots, and scarring
  • Have reasonable expectations
  • Not be currently pregnant or nursing

How Long Will It Take To See Results After HALO Laser Treatment?

You may notice skin improvements immediately after your HALO laser treatment. However, as your body starts to produce more collagen and elastin, it can take up to a month to see the full effects. Some patients require up to three or four treatment sessions to achieve optimal results.
