What is PRP Facial Rejuvenation?

PRP Facial Rejuvenation is the latest advancement in skincare technology. Performed at Arroyo Plastic Surgery, the treatment is designed to target a variety of skin conditions, including acne scars, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation.

How Does PRP Facial Rejuvenation Work?

What makes this treatment so unique is that the key ingredient used is platelet-rich plasma (PRP), taken from your own blood. Once the blood is obtained, it is spun in a machine to separate the vital ingredients. These active ingredients are combined with microneedling to help stimulate collagen production and leave you with a refreshed facial appearance. By using microneedling, the ingredients are better able to penetrate the skin and deliver more substantial results.

What Is PRP Facial Rejuvenation?

This treatment combines microneedling and PRP to leave your skin looking younger and more refreshed.

PRP is platelet-rich plasma. Plasma is the more liquid component of blood, while a platelet is a type of blood cell that contains high levels of growth factors. When this is applied to the skin, it initiates cell turnover, leading to a more rejuvenated appearance.

Microneedling is a cosmetic treatment performed using a roller with fine needles to gently prick the skin. While the idea of needles across your face may seem daunting, this safe procedure stimulates collagen production to improve scars and improve skin.

Benefits of PRP Facial Rejuvenation

PRP facial rejuvenation can be used to treat a variety of facial conditions. Some of the most common conditions PRP facial rejuvenation can treat are:

  • Acne scars
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sun damage
  • Enlarged pores
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Hyperpigmentation

How Does PRP Work?

PRP is attained by drawing blood from the patient, often from the arm. One syringe of blood is drawn and put through a centrifuge machine that separates the PRP from the other elements of the blood. Your face will be numbed prior to treatment to keep you comfortable, and then the microneedling will begin. The microneedling creates small punctures in the skin, which allow the PRP to better penetrate the skin. After the microneedling portion, the PRP will be massaged throughout the face. Once the treatment has been completed, a serum may be applied to help soothe irritation and redness.

Who Is a Candidate?

Most patients are good candidates for PRP facial rejuvenation. It is not a suitable treatment for those who are pregnant, scar easily, or have blood disorders. You may also not be a candidate if you take certain acne medications. During your consultation with Dr. Arroyo, you discuss your skin concerns, and he will decide if this treatment is right for you. Be sure to disclose all of your medications during your consultation.

After Your Treatment

After your PRP facial rejuvenation, your recovery should be fairly quick. You will be able to go home after your treatment and resume regular activities. There will be some redness and tenderness after the treatment. You may experience some mild bruising. These should heal within a week. If you have any concerns after your treatment, Dr. Arroyo’s office will be available to answer all of your questions.

You should begin to see results from your treatment after two to three weeks. Full results should be visible within four to six weeks. Depending on your skin concerns, you may require more than one PRP facial treatment. At your consultation, Dr. Arroyo will create a customized treatment plan for you and let you know how many treatments you may require.
