Arroyo’s Unique Sedation Method

During a facelift procedure, Dr. Christian Arroyo utilizes a unique sedation method referred to as Total Intravenous Anesthesia (TIVA) Sedation. This technique is considered to be generally safer and allows the patient to breathe independently without any intubation during surgery. Furthermore, patients do not suffer from side effects such as nausea, vomiting, or pain associated with general anesthesia. Once you have been prepped for surgery, the surgeon’s team will administer a specific type of oral medication, instead of the typical intravenous medication, to ease the nerves and assist with pain control.

Many of his facelift patients find it very comfortable and preferable as it helps to utilize fewer intravenous medications during surgery. After this, the patient is brought into the operating room, where a painless IV is started, and intravenous medications are administered to give the patient comfortable sedation without intubation. The patient is closely monitored by Dr. Arroyo’s surgical staff, with patient safety being the #1 priority. After the surgery is done, you wake up relaxed without pain, nausea, or vomiting, ready to go home and recover.

Types of Facelifts

Dr. Arroyo can perform several different types of facelift procedures tailored to the patient’s goals:

Mini Facelift

In a mini facelift procedure, the surgeon creates a short incision in the front of the ear. He will then lift and re-drape the skin while repositioning the underlying tissue to achieve a natural-looking result. A mini facelift is the best procedure choice for individuals looking for mild to moderate improvements in their central and lower face appearance. Dr. Arroyo may integrate a neck-liposuction or eyelid surgery into this treatment if needed.

Standard Facelift

In a standard/traditional facelift, Dr. Arroyo will make an incision above the ear, right along the hairline. The patient’s problem areas will influence the length and precise positioning of the incision. Dr. Arroyo will then lift and re-drape the skin towards the center of the face while pulling the underlying muscle layers to achieve a natural, rejuvenated outcome. Traditional facelift procedures are common with individuals above the age of 45 or those seeking dramatic improvement in their face's appearance. Following your pre-op assessment, Dr. Arroyo will recommend the best type of facelift for your goals. Dr. Arroyo is a skilled Houston-based facelift surgeon with years of experience performing surgical procedures. He takes a keen interest in each patient and is committed to results and each patient's safety. Recovery After Your Facelift

Recovery after a facelift varies from one patient to another, depending on the extensiveness of treatment and the patient’s overall healing ability. Dr. Arroyo encourages his facelift patients to get up and move around as soon as they can after surgery to promote proper blood flow.

You can expect to experience some swelling, bruising, and pain over the first week. The surgeon will provide appropriate medication to keep you comfortable. Most facial rejuvenation patients can resume light work within two weeks.

However, you will need to wait until after 4-6 weeks before you can get back to vigorous activity. If you have any questions or are worried about anything during this healing process, Dr. Arroyo’s office will always be available to answer any questions or address your concerns.

How Much Is a Facelift?

The cost of a facelift is determined by the extent of the surgery and each patient's unique needs. Dr. Arroyo’s patients can expect to pay between $9,000 and $12,000 for his facelift procedure. During your initial consultation with Dr. Arroyo, his team will provide a cost estimate to help you arrange for financing.

Surgical vs. Non-Surgical?

Many facelift plastic surgery candidates weigh the idea of non-surgical, non-invasive procedures. Thanks to advances in plastic surgery technology, several procedures are available in this criteria. These non-surgical alternatives are beneficial because they do not come with downtime, and patients can get back to their daily routine almost immediately after the treatment. Dr. Arroyo will be sure to take you through all the available surgical and non-surgical options and help you pick the best treatment method. Keep in mind, though, that non-surgical facelifts can only address mild aesthetic concerns. If you need a dramatic reversal of aging signs and the removal of excess sagging skin, surgery is the only solution.

Is a Facelift Permanent?

A facelift is designed to deliver long-lasting improvements. However, as time goes by, the facelifted face will still show aging signs such as loosening skin and jowls. But the extent of these changes will always be less compared to someone who did not have facial plastic surgery in the first place. Many of Dr. Arroyo’s patients find that their facial plastic procedure's benefits last for as long as 10-15 years.

Which areas will be targeted?

A facelift can mean many things, usually depending on the patient’s concerns. The surgeon may focus on removing excess skin, jowls, or stubborn fat deposits around areas of the face or neck. Dr. Arroyo will also tighten the soft tissue that lies beneath the skin to reverse the impact of gravity and restore a youthful look.

Will I Have Scars?

Scarring is inevitable after this procedure because incisions are made on the facial skin. Working with a skilled surgeon is essential to reduce your scarring from the procedure. Dr. Arroyo makes sure to minimize incisions and position them within natural holds of the skin (e.g., along the hairline) where they are hardly visible.

How Do I Prepare For a Facelift?

Dr. Arroyo requires his facelift and neck lift patients to stop smoking at least a few weeks before the day of surgery. He will also ask you to stop taking certain types of herbal supplements and blood-thinning medication such as ibuprofen, aspirin, and NSAIDs at least 14 days before and after facial surgery. Since rhytidectomy is an outpatient procedure, you will need to arrange for a family member, friend, or trusted associate to drive you home immediately after the surgery. It is also vital to purchase supplies you will need during recovery in advance and set time aside from work so you can put your full attention on healing.

Can I Combine Rhytidectomy With Other Procedures?

It is possible to combine your surgical facelift with other cosmetic procedures such as neck lift and blepharoplasty so you can receive maximum benefits in one sitting. Following your consultation with Dr. Arroyo, he will craft a tailor-made treatment plan to address all of your aesthetic concerns.
